Skipper Canteen is only taking walk-up seating. There is a small waiting veranda with big chairs, fans, and “chests” to sit on and await your turn. The check-in booth is in the center of the veranda. There is also a decorative sphinx.

Immediately following the indoor waiting area is the Skipper’s Mess Hall. This room contains the bulk of the restaurant’s seating. Jungle artifacts line the walls.

S.E.A. (Society of Explorers and Adventurers) Room

Hidden behind a secret bookcase off the mess, the S.E.A. Room is adorned with the relics and insignia of a secret society of skippers known as the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. Little is known about this exclusive cadre of skippers, but their dining room is very tastefully composed around the hearth. A scene of a skipper intimidating a dangerous snake sits above the mantle.

Falls Family Dining Room

Also called the jungle room, this dining room contains many of the Falls family’s most precious heirlooms and specimens. It is said that Alberta opened this room to the public as a means to cope with her grandfather’s death.

New information on Star Wars offerings at DHS

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut new, permanent Star Wars experiences beginning December 1, 2015, and continuing through 2017 until construction on Star Wars Land is complete.

The Disney Parks Blog has released information on 3 new experiences.

On December 1, the Star Wars Launch Bay, which occupies the former Magic of Disney Animation building, will open and provide sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes looks at the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens (scheduled for theatrical release December 18, 2015).

Star Tours will get a simulator ride based on The Force Awakens. Disney says that during the “opening months”, this will be the only program that runs on the Star Tours simulator. After the initial period, the program will be entered into regular rotation.

In early December, the currently walled off Jedi Training Academy, immediately adjacent to Star Tours, will re-open as Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. The new attraction will serve the same purpose as the classic JTA, but the program and set will be refreshed to include the Seventh Sister from Disney XD’s Star Wars: Rebels.

2015 will be the last year for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, an annual feature at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will have its final showing this year. Hollywood Studios’ massive renovation project will consume the Streets of America, the section of the park that hosts this display.

Major new lands coming to Hollywood Studios

Last week’s D23 conference revealed two major new developments at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land. Both have long been rumored and anticipated, but are now official. Star Wars Land will also be added to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Early concept art was revealed for both lands.

Toy Story Land at DisneyÕs Hollywood Studios in Florida -- The reimagining of Disney's Hollywood Studios will take guests to infinity and beyond, allowing them to step into the worlds of their favorite films, starting with Toy Story Land. This new 11-acre land will transport guests into the adventurous outdoors of Andy's backyard. Guests will think they've been shrunk to the size of Woody and Buzz as they are surrounded by oversized toys that Andy has assembled using his vivid imagination. Using toys like building blocks, plastic buckets and shovels, and game board pieces, Andy has designed the perfect setting for this land, which will include two new attractions for any Disney park and one expanded favorite. Star Wars-Themed Lands Coming to Disney Parks Ð Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced at D23 EXPO 2015 that Star Wars-themed lands will be coming to Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., and DisneyÕs Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla., creating DisneyÕs largest single-themed land expansions ever at 14-acres each, transporting guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. These authentic lands will have two signature attractions, including the ability to take the controls of one of the most recognizable ships in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon, on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle. Further detail on either development is scarce (speculation can be made from images of the concept art at reasonable resolution, like those shown here). More information was given about Star Wars Land than Toy Story Land, suggesting that it is further along in development. Star Wars Land will feature “two signature attractions”: one based on flying the Millennium Falcon and one in which guests are put “in the middle of a climactic battle”. There will be a walkthrough attraction called “Star Wars Launch Bay”. This is all the real information we have on either development so far.

In addition to the land overview, 3 other concepts around Star Wars Land were released:
