This update is as of July 11, 2014. Visit our Polynesian Construction Updates category page for the latest information.
More changes are taking place at Disneys Polynesian Village Resort (including the full adoption of this name rather than Disney’s Polynesian Resort). Here’s the rundown on what’s changed since our last update. The left side of the entryway has been totally enclosed to the end of the Grand Ceremonial House. Behind those walls, the fountains are being drained and renovated. There’s no word on whether they’ll stay or be replaced.   Inside, the fountain has been fully enclosed. Bell Services has been moved just inside the door in an alcove created by the walls.  New concept art has been added to the walls including a couple of photos we haven’t seen previously in the hotel.     Around the corner toward the back doors, cutouts have been added to the walls for photo ops.   Upstairs, an enclosure has been placed at the entrance to Tambu Lounge, creating an odd sort of hallway from Kona to Tambu.   More cutouts have been added upstairs as well  The merchandise shop upstairs has been closed and popular merchandise has been moved to Boutiki downstairs. The pin kiosk remains, as does the sundries section of the shop.   At ‘Ohana, the kids’ area has been removed and is being used as stroller parking.  Outside, construction walls have been added to the left side of the walkway.  The Nanea pool remains open but is said to be closing on July 26. The bar will close as well, but the hotel will set up portable bars outside when possible.   The DVC Bungalows are progressing quickly with interior walls going up and exterior finishes going on.     The walkways remain walled off on most of the TTC side of the resort and there doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of progress in what will be the DVC longhouses.   In a new and pretty major change from our last update, the walkways around Tangaroa Terrace have been ripped out and construction is progressing in the area.  Â
