Advance Dining Reservations in the Magic Kingdom: Liberty Tree Tavern

LTT-ExteriorOne of the most interesting things we come across in questions about dining at Walt Disney World are the questions about what the restaurants are like in the Magic Kingdom. Because it’s one of the busiest parks in the world, you’d think that everyone would know what Tony’s Town Square, The Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Kingdom’s other restaurants offer, but as it turns out, unless you’ve been to one of these restaurants on a prior trip, great information can be hard to come by. So first in the series as we work our way around the Magic Kingdom is Liberty Tree Tavern.

During lunch hours (11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.), the tavern serves a hearty lineup with lots of great salads, sandwiches, and a great pot roast. The most popular meal at Liberty Tree Tavern (LTT) though, is dinner. On most, if not all nights, LTT requires an Advance Dining Reservation. They’re not as difficult to obtain as those at Be Our Guest or Crystal Palace in general, an the tavern can seat large parties. You’ll check in when you arrive and wait in the colonial-area waiting area.

The lobby is especially pretty when decorated for the holidays. Once your party is called, you’ll be seated at a traditional table with spindle chairs and a server will be around to get your drink order. Dinner is served family style and you get what they bring, but as always with Disney, special dietary needs can be accommodated. After drinks (soda, water, juice and tea are included), the first course is bread and salad. You get a great mix of cornbread, cheese biscuits, and rolls, and a fresh salad with a really great apple vinaigrette.

When you’ve finished with your salad and bread, – don’t worry, they’ll keep the bread coming as long as you keep asking – dinner is served. Your table will get a selection of meats including turkey, beef, and pork; mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, fresh garlic green beans, sweet potatoes, and stuffing.

While the food is pretty Thanksgiving basic, it’s all absolutely wonderful. The meats are cooked perfectly, the stuffing is fantastic, the mashed potatoes are creamy, and the beans are crisp and flavorful. Seconds are available on any and all dishes – just ask your server. And if you have any room left (try to make some) there’s cranberry apple cake a la mode.

The price is surprisingly reasonable – right around $35 per adult for dinner, and service is fast and friendly. Dinner takes around 45 minutes from seating to payment making this a really enjoyable meal that provides a nice break without taking too much of your park time. We give it a solid 4.5 stars out of five for overall taste, price, and convenience.
