Move it! Shake it! Dance and Play it! Magic Kingdom’s dance party gets an update.

MiSiDaPi-10Since February, 2009, the Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Street party has been rocking its way down Main Street, U.S.A., several times a day, its character floats and dancers encircling the hub for a few minutes to have a street party and then moving back down the street to the Car Barn. This Fall, the affectionately titled “MiSiCi” became the Move it! Shake it! Dance and Play it! street party. While there aren’t too many changes from its previous lineup, the changes are good ones. Check out what’s new and what to look forward to!

First things first – the music. We were big fans of the previous soundtrack, but the new one’s even better. It’s a lot more coherent, and seems to have rejuvenated the cast.

Easiest-to-spot addition? The giant screens on the sides of the floats. Hashtag your photos with #MoveitShakeitPics for a chance to see them on these screens at the end of the party.

MiSiDaPi (new initialism!) still moves down the same route (car barn to hub and back) and stays in the hub for the dance party portion. Characters still stand atop the floats, and the charismatic DJ still runs the show.

The dance party section of the parade is a bit shorter and seemed a lot less annoying. Nothing wrong with a good Conga line.

Once the party moves back to the sidewalks, the giant screens on the floats reflect three songs for the audience to choose from. By volume of cheer, the song is selected as the final song and photos are flashed on the screens as well.

And, while we’ll certainly miss the Mickey confetti that’s no longer shot from the top of the floats, there’s a special surprise for you at the end of the party. Be sure to check your Times Guide for Move it! Shake it! Dance and Play it! show times.
